OFFSHORE & ONSHORE INTELLIGENT PROTECTION

Oil & Gas companies need expert protection for their assets and equipment.
Our experienced and specialized teams of security and risk experts know how to work in complex high-risk environments. We understand the importance of effective emergency plans, procedures and resources, and can help you develop and implement them.
Our services cover training and developing your own staff, providing specialized personnel, and keeping you safe.
The security process in which the Oil & Gas operational sectors (upstream, midstream, and downstream) are secured with the implementation of physical and network security measures to ensure operational efficiency and minimize losses associated with security breaches is carefully developed by our specialists.

Physical Protection

  • While the threat of terrorism and sabotage attacks are across the supply chain of the oil and gas industry; from oil wells, transportation to refineries, the threat of piracy primarily concerns the oil tanker industry, we design a Strategic Surveillance by Specialized and Experienced Security Teams to protect Oil Platforms, Rigs and Vessels, Wells, and Inland Facilities.

  • With energy production assets being tempting targets for widely disparate criminal groups and general malcontents as well as terrorists and insurgents, the job of protecting oil and gas assets against such incongruently motivated threats is a serious challenge.

  • Specialized physical protection for executives or subjects of interest, as well as safe maritime and ground route/convoy transportation services.

Risk Prevention

  • The entire supply chain from oil wells and offshore platforms and refineries can be affected by the security threats such as piracy, terrorism, organized crime, inter-state hostilities, and vandalism, that can cause severe economic and ecological damage that might affect the international oil & gas markets.

  • Our philosophy resides on Protection by Prevention. It is far easier to dissuade intruders from boarding a platform in the first place than it is to evict them once they have. Making an enhanced culture of security and conspicuous, active deterrence measures commonplace and effective first lines of defense.

  • We develop Crisis and Emergency response plans and procedures, advisory on how to make your vessels and assets harder to attack and perform Security Audits & Risk Assessments.

Security Teams

  • Our operating staff have been trained by the Mexican and US armed forces, most of them are retired officials from the Navy and the Army with more than 20 years of experience. All team vetted to oil major standard. They have skills and experience to protect our clients´ assets and ensure your operations are unaffected.

  • Our Operations Department has efficiently developed a security culture policy that corresponds to all International security norms and standards followed by each and every FORTRESS employee from the Chief of Security to the Operations Managers, from the Safety Managers to the Security Officers that monitor operations and ensure the security policies are adhered to.

  • Our goal is to provide secure and safe environment for all our clients being in depth knowledge of each assignment given. Maintaining the ability to investigate and resolve security-related concerns about an individual or incident in an offshore location is a key aspect of personnel security.

Tactical & Non-Lethal Equipment

  • Our Special Teams surveil, identify, and act against boats which could pose a threat to the Project Vessel utilizing specialized tactical and non-lethal deterrence equipment, Thermal & Night Vision Binoculars, and LRADs Technology.

  • Infra-red illumination and thermal imaging overcome the inherent difficulties of video-capture in low light, while the latest developments in radar technology – and especially in the field of radar video surveillance (RVS) – have given offshore platforms a considerably longer detection reach.

  • Non-lethal weapons can prevent and minimize deaths and injuries, the usage of non-lethal weapons is recommended because is possible to stop access to facilities, warn/stop vehicles and small vessels.

Intelligence

  • FORTRESS’s Intel Team provides critical information to fulfill our client’s needs, collecting, processing, exploiting, and analyzing information that supports a particular position to the leadership.

  • Geography and other enabling factors, such as the presence of armed conflict in the area play important role in identifying, qualifying, and quantifying potential risks to offshore oil and gas installations. We realize reports of areas of interest with all the information about the criminal group’s operations in the area.

  • Our specialists are implementing the threat and risk analysis plan basing on understanding of the types of threats faced by offshore installations including knowledge of various threat groups, the dangers they represent, their goals, intentions, offshore capabilities, opportunities, past attacks and interferences with offshore installations and possible future actions.

Regulatory

  • The 2013 Energy Reform created a regulatory framework that encourages private investment in the national territory in the field of hydrocarbons. New players need to know the current legal framework and adapt to the reality of the national market. We work according and in compliance of the Mexican Federal and Local laws subject of the matter.

  • Experts are required to help identify the costs, risks, restrictions, scope and benefits of projects emerging from the reform in order to avoid the lack of assertiveness in detecting new business opportunities arising from the new regulations, reason why the regulatory division uses a risk-based approach and employs highly experienced subject matter experts about Environmental & Social Impact Studies.

  • We work according the Maritime Regulations, Seaman’s Card, and Discharge Book disclosure. Security documentation (Legal instructions, compliance with the company's Codes of Conduct, Procedures, Manuals, Standing orders, Engagement rules, safety orders).
